Franchise vs. Direct Sale Home-Business

Thinking of Buying a Franchise?

At some point most Americans realize working for someone else in this day and age could be a dead end or even worse, a situation fraught with insecurity. Let's face it, a "real job" just doesn't cut it anymore, and it’s a far cry from the American dream. With the current American trend toward outsourcing and pay raises that can't even keep up with inflation; a majority of Americans are looking for a way out. Some may already have a clear vision, while others just know they need to declare independence from the rat race any way possible.

Thinking of Buying a Franchise?A franchise agreement may seem like just what you need for a change in your career and life. After all, everyone already knows about Subway, Midas Muffler, Dunkin Donuts, Dominos, and the thousands of other businesses that line the streets and fill the strip malls of North America. Hopefully, the information here will save you the years of frustration commonly experienced by most new business owners who attempt to work the traditional brick and mortar business or start a franchise.

As a franchisee, you'd have the privilege of using the company's name and recognizable storefront, along with its trade secrets. Franchise fees can be quite reasonable (most less than 40K), but that's only the beginning.

You will need an upfront investment that amounts to much more than the franchise fee. For example, according to a survey which appeared in the article "Annual Franchising Overview" (Bond's Franchise Guides) the average cost of a motel franchise was $27,300; but the estimated required start-up capital or line of credit was $6,600,000. Yeah, that's with 2 commas. OK, that's a motel. What about a small-scale shop that sells donuts, pizza, cookies, chocolates, or bagels; which carries an average franchise fee of $24,676? The estimated start-up capital was still a whopping $261,165! In addition to arranging this financing, most franchisers will have requirements for your personal net worth.  So call your accountant, because you are going to want to look good on paper. Oh, and call your lawyer too. You will need him or her to review the contracts. These contracts will bind you to the franchiser's terms, which will include restrictions, requirements, and specifications that will be imposed on you forever. You should also be aware that most franchisers will not be very flexible on altering the terms of their contracts; so you’d better be sure you understand what it is you are signing.  You must also qualify for licensing. But let's say you've got enough saved up for the fee, you meet all the requirements, and obtain the proper licensing.

It sounds like a sweet deal, doesn't it?  What could go wrong?

Owning a franchise is not easy, and anyone who goes into one believing that the business will run itself is destined for failure. In fact, you may feel like you’re still working for someone else once you discover all the responsibilities that come with a franchise agreement. You will be dealing with employees (some unreliable), customers (some complain), and your contact people at the parent company are, in effect, your new bosses.  Just try doing something (like offering a new product or changing the store layout) without running it by the corporate office first, and you will get a quick lesson in what we are talking about here.  There may come a point where you will feel more like a glorified manager than a business owner; and adding insult to injury, you paid for it!

Next, do you have enough money to run the business until it starts turning a profit? Remember, you must factor in payroll, employee training, equipment, rent, maintenance, insurance, inventory, payment on the business loan; and don't forget to send the franchisor its 4-8% monthly royalty of the TOTAL SALES (not of profit)!!! Lastly, you had better be sure you are comfortable with the franchise that you ultimately select,, because you will be spending a majority of your time on location, working in your business, not on it.

Your vacations and family time will be limited.

There is an Alternative Plan

There is a much less complicated way to achieve financial independence and success without jumping on the franchise roller coaster that never stops. There is a viable, legitimate way to earn an exceptional income without the huge investment, the loss of freedom, or the sacrifice of time with your family. Many Americans are discovering that they have options that were not available even a year ago. When comparing this new business model (NBM) against the traditional business model (TBM) here are some things to consider. The initial TBM investment is generally 25K-2.5M, with an average of 5 years (which most TBMs will never make) until the business shows any profit, 15% profit when it actually does, with 15 hour work days. The initial NBM is generally 2-25K investment, with an average return in 30-60 days, 75% profit, with 3 to 5 hour work days, no employees, no inventory, no rent, no insurance, less taxes, and more freedom. In addition, some of the nation’s top financial authors and gurus are touting this home-based business movement as a revolution destined to create more millionaires than any other industry in history.

More and more Americans are running multi-million dollar businesses from the comfort of their own home, but where did they start? Not all home-based businesses are created equal.  Unless you already have a product and a strong advertising and marketing background I would recommend starting online with a discerning eye.  Some sell buckets of hot air while others have a great product but lack the system, training, and support that make all the difference to your bottom line. Since there is no limitation on how many different home-based businesses you can participate in, I recommend starting with a top tier program that has a turnkey proven system in place and avoid following a lone individual. Look for a professional team with the proper support in place. You will find the training is well worth the entry-level cost. Top Tier Direct Sales opportunities have a much higher success rate then do low cost "old school" MLM models. This is simply because they do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, in effect making it very possible to replace your current income in less than 6 months. If you’re looking for the easy way out or get rich quick deals then this is NOT the business for you. You should expect to reinvest your initial earnings back into building your business. Nonetheless, it is still better than spending years building a successful TBM business only to feel trapped in it as you very well may if you signed a franchise agreement.

Is Nevada the Friendliest State to Incorporate for Entrepreneurs?

Is Nevada really the best place to incorporate?

I hear a lot of questions on twitter and other social mediums about incorporating in Nevada but nobody seems to give good reasons as to why?

Is Nevada the Best Place to IncorporateHaving done my own extensive research, I figure I'd share my findings with everyone on my blog. Let's start with, why incorporate in the first place? The first thing that usually comes to mind is protection, but personally after hearing that I was 300% more likely to be audited while operating as a sole proprietor I then saw it as prevention! Even if you have done everything by-the book, I nor anyone I know likes a visit from the IRS. I quickly found out that you do not have to incorporate in the state where you do business. If there is a more favorable state which can provide more benefit then you can incorporate there making it your domicile. Next, you will also need to file in your current state for foreign registry. In California, where I live, I was also susceptible to any fees that California charges in association with incorporating, so it does tend to be slightly more expensive than filing just in your home state.

So where's the best place to incorporate?

After taking my own council, I found that there were 4 main domicile options for my business (home-entrepreneur) and they are: Nevada, Delaware, Wyoming, and your home state. So let's start by separating the wheat from the chaff…

Why should you incorporate in your home state? Well, for one it's cheaper and if it's all that you can afford then it is much better then operating as a sole proprietor. On the downside it may not provide the protection of some other more favorable states. Also, if you or your company changes location, then your former home state would become your domicile. You would have to foreign register in your new state unless you dissolve the company and start over. Starting over would crush your well seasoned business history and, you would have to re-build any credit your company established in the past. If you can afford it, there is a better choice and it really is Nevada. Let's compare the final 3:

Delaware vs. Nevada

The main rights in Delaware law benefit shareholders of public corporations. This attracts large public companies that trade on various exchanges across the country and provide the BEST protection to their shareholders. Delaware's corporate law, with regard to corporate takeovers, is the strongest in the US. However, I run a home-based or more appropriately a mobile business so this option was not the best for me for the following reasons…

In short, Delaware's state corporate tax amounts to 8.7%, they also requires disclosure of one of the principal business location outside of the state. They freely exchange information with the IRS and require that you report the actual number and value of the stock listed. Nevada on the other hand, carries no state tax and requires none of the items listed above. In addition Nevada's corporate legislature has recently surpassed Delaware's in it’s’ effort to ensure that the rights of small corporations are protected. Without going too much into detail and boring the pants off you, I'll just say that Nevada has much more protection and limits to the liabilities of it’s’ officers.

*To verify this information call the state corporate tax department of DE @ (302) 577-3300

Wyoming vs. Nevada

Wyoming might be a good choice for you wanting to remain anonymous, or are the type of person to pick up pennies while dollars fly over your head. Let me explain. Wyoming adds more privacy and lower fees then Nevada. But that's not protection!

Similar to Nevada, Wyoming does not levy a personal or corporate income tax, but like Nevada you MUST have a nexus in the state to qualify for your tax savings. Wyoming, also allows it owners to be completely anonymous. Nevada does not, but let's be honest there's always a paper trail and if your hiding there's probably a good reason and I don't want to enable you any further. The corporate veil in Wyoming is very strong but there have been many more cases that have run through the Nevada and Delaware court systems and found stronger levels of protection.

So what makes Nevada the best place in the US to incorporate?

Besides the favorable tax laws, it is really all about protection. The corporate veil was only pierced twice in the last 30 years and both cases involved outright fraud. Nevada, a pro-business state, protects the business owners and they have the best track record for doing so. Let's go back to the reason you incorporated in the first place… protection. Let's say, you spent the last ten years building your business and your life and something outside of your control lands you in the "hot seat." If you are incorporated in a weaker state the chances of them piercing the corporate veil and coming after you and your personal assets is much higher. You could have everything you worked for hanging in the balance. Have you noticed a new question on loan applications? “Are you currently involved in a lawsuit?” If so, even a frivolous law suit can effectively paralyze your credit. My advice, spend the extra few hundred bucks and incorporate in Nevada. But before doing so make sure you do it with a company that understands your personal situation, the future assessed value of your company, and, is willing to discuss your options. I do not recommend using your CPA or Lawyer unless they have extensive experience with filing corporations. It is imperative that you have the "I” dotted and "T’s" crossed and you are set up for success on day one.

*If you need a recommendation just leave a comment or send me a massage. Before Incorporating, you must read this 78 page FREE report!

P.S. If you are a home-based entrepreneur like myself you WILL need to foreign register in your state even though you conduct business online.

Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki the list goes on and on.

Trump on Network Marketing

L ate night legend, David Letterman, interviewed billionaire (at the time) Donald Trump on his talk how. Letterman asked "The Donald" what he would do if he lost everything and had to start over from scratch.

Trump's response was that he would find a great network marketing company and get to work. When he received hisses and boos from the audience, he looked out at them with complete and total authority and responded, "That's why I'm sitting down here and your sitting out there". Now you don't have to like the guy to understand where he's coming from… Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki BOTH say that if they had to do it all over again, they would build their fortunes in THIS industry. (Oh! I almost forgot Warren Buffet also bought several Network Marketing companies last year.)

-Home Based Business is a $427 Billion per year industry. That's more than the pharmaceutical industry, food industry, and consumer goods industry – combined!

-75% of U.S. adults who go online say the internet has made it easier to start a business. (Yahoo Small Business/Harris Interactive, April 2006)

- Over 30,000,000 (yes million) Americans have either attempted Network Marketing or are currently involved in the industry.

- 79,000,000 Americans plan to start their OWN businesses in the next 3-5 years (Forbes Magazine)

- Every 11 seconds: Someone starts a home business in the US.

- Every 8 seconds: Someone starts a franchise in the US.

Yet the VAST majority will fail.

- 90% of all business WILL fail within their first 5 years

(Entrepreneur Magazine)

-90% of home business owners make less than $10 a week. That's right, 10 bucks! If only they took the time to read my report letter they would have saved themselves from this painful reality..

Report Here

-Less than 1 out of 1000 people in this industry will ever make 6-figures.

WHY! WHY!?

Why does everyone think this is an industry of easy-riches when the reality is that most are failing dismally?

My top 3 reasons:

1. The vast majority of people who end up starting a home business do so because they get all hyped-up about some "super" new product that they think will overtake the market and make them millions in the process.

2. Only 50% of full time HHB owners know what I'm going to share with you and only 5% actually apply it. That's precisely the reason I can share my secrets with everyone, because people are LAZY and most will never act on what they learn.

3. They DO NOT understand Leverage!

*****

The problem is that most people don't realize that unless you are able to leverage the experience and systems of the leaders on your team, you will go broke LONG before you ever make a substantial income.

You see a business opportunity is really nothing – not an opportunity at all. In fact, it's just an agreement on a piece of paper and unless you are joining a GROUP or TEAM that is REALLY going to show you the COMMON DENOMINATORS of their success, you are dead meat.

Remember the stories about those Amway guys who had garages busting at the seams? That's because they DID NOT UNDERSTAND MARKETING.

Maximize your list; turn more leads into paying customers for FREE with this one tip!

One of my colleagues called me up frustrated a couple of weeks ago and we quickly solved his problem and I'd like to share with you how. There was something in his pocket he wasn't using to it's full potential. I'm not talking about putting his loose change in a change jar, but what I'm talking about will help you convert more sales basically free and that's what really counts. I'll tell you what it is in just a second, but first let's go over this common frustration amongst Network Marketers.

I'll assume you have professional conference calls that effectively present your business opportunity in a manor better than most newbies will ever will be able to. As you know these calls are  usually held by a million-dollar top producing marketers and are extremely powerful. In addition to answering questions and closing your sales they allow you to leverage the amount of prospects you can reach at one time.

Think about it, would you rather speak to 15 people a night and regurgitate the same thing over and over 14 extra times? No, I didn't think so, you have better things to be doing right! Your focus should be getting them on the call, that way when you do speak with them they are qualified for your time, after all -both of your time is best spent after your prospect has had a chance to absorb what is really in front of them by reviewing your well laid out information.

This was particularly important for my colleague because he was very new, and he did not have all the answers so he shouldn't be telling and selling anyone anyway. Now if I seam to be speaking another language to you right now and your company doesn't offer professional conference calls or webinars, then grab Wilma, Pebbles and Dino and get on the first Brontosaurus Rex out of Bedrock, when you get to a pay phone call me collect and I'll hook you up flintstonescarsoldier. Think about it, your job is simple; generate the lead, sort them and get the qualified ones to these calls on time and let the Pros deliver the information for you.

Now as you know to solve a problem you first have to define it so let's take a look; We have already established that we need to get them there so let's explore why they aren't making it in the first place? Maybe they forgot, maybe they misplaced the number and aren't by a computer, or they just weren't sure if they had time and didn't schedule it into their day. So what can you do to eliminate all possible excuses except.

"Get out of my face I'm afraid of being scammed!"

The solution is actually quite simple and almost everyone has it on them at all times, it's one of the best communication breakthroughs of the 21st century. You know what it is by now don't you?

It's your cell phone…..

You may not be able to individually call each one of your prospects and remind them about the call, but you can text them. The name of the game is leverage and you have to know how to use it.

Did you know the average email can sit for 3 DAYS before it is read but the average text only takes 4 MINUTES!?!

If you have a 5 pm call that closes sales for you, then you need to be sending a mass text to every quailed prospects cell phone. The text should be simple, "Hi, quick reminder tonight's overview call is at 5pm dial blah blah blah PIN: blah.” It is also very important to respect this form of communication so try to limit it to no more than 3 messages, 1 per week and after 3 weeks without response it is probably time to stop wasting your time..

Most cell phones today have the ability to send mass texts and create lists, but if your phone does not you can just Google "mass texting" services or "SMS messaging" they'll be plenty of tools there.

As soon as we implemented this team wide believe it or not we had immediate results I mean next day! Get on this ASAP; send an email or better yet a text to your entire team right now it can't hurt one bit. Team Leaders here's another helpful hint, text your team ½ hour before the call reminding them to text their hot prospects in 15 minutes! It's all about leverage we have the tool we just need to recognize them for how much power they really have…. But don't take my word for it, take my 30-day challenge and focus on this for a month, then write me back with your results!

"Luck is when chance meets with preparation.

NO DON’T QUIT!

“Tales from the emails” This segment is simply a cut and paste from my everyday conversations with prospective members, applicants, and active members. I post these “tales from the emails” to give you (the reader) a raw look inside the industry in the hopes that I can leverage my answers to anyone who may be facing the same questions or issues.

********* I don't have Kate's original email as it was a conversation passed onto me from one of my members Dan but here's the story anyway..

Hi Kate,

I hope you don't mind but Dan shared his frustration with me and forwarded your email over. I just wanted to add my 2 cents; all the reasonsDan listed for quitting should be all the reasons you should stay. I can say this because I was where you are and so was Dan, our backs have been against the wall and our heads full of doubt but the difference is we persisted onward. I wasn't an instant success, it took hard work, MONTHS of determination and studying to get to where I am, and I don't mind telling you it has become very lucrative for me. My "why" and the reward for me was worth burning everything I owned in order to achieve the better life that I believed I was destined for. If I quit on month 3 I wouldn't have made 15K in month 6 and so on. My plan is to gross 100K per mo. and employ 3 people and I know it's going to take the better half of 2009 to get there but come on, where else could that even be possible in such a short amount of time!

Kate your a bright woman with good reasons so be honest with yourself by asking these questions:

  • Did you plug into the program by taking advantage of the web training and attending as many live calls as possible?
  • Did you take action on what you have learned.
  • Do you legitimately put 4 hours 5 days of work into this every week as if you would if you were working a part-time job?
  • Could you continue to work this part time while working another job to cover your day to day life expenses (like many people do)?

Take some pressure off yourself and reward yourself for what you have accomplished – 600 leads is certainly nothing to shake a stick at and statistically speaking you should have made more than one sale but in my experience conversions take on average 45 days and in order to achieve statistical averages you need to base it on enough numbers to begin with (thousands). It's just the "law of large numbers." I already know you are capable of developing 600 leads and I have little doubt that if you could do that consistently each month for 12 months you would be in a much different position by the end of 2009.

Seems like a long time huh? Not really when you look at this like a real business and you've put work into your business so please don't let that go to waste.

Quick story: February 2008, I had already made over 10K in the industry (all on paid CL) but I still had my doubts and I'd sit on my stoop in the morning sipping my coffee with my head in my hands wondering how I was going to generate more leads, get more business, and stay on CL….Believe me, quitting has crossed my mind but the reality was I had nobody to tell I was quitting to, so it forced me to be real honest with myself and look around….

This is certainly real, other people are making it happen so why couldn't I? I found a way to continue posting even though it was a huge pain in the ass but it forced me to learn to market other ways and increase my personal worth. Now fast forward to September 2008 I'm on the same stoop fresh cup of Joe and still have my head in my hands but the question has changed;

"how am I going to manage all of this business and such a large team effectively?"

Now I started this with absolutely no experience in this industry and a complete nimrod when it came to computers (I'm still typing with 2 index fingers to this day) if you were to work as hard as I have then the only thing separating us would be time. You can absolutely be where I am by not quitting. Kate I have nothing to gain from you going in either direction, and I will continue to mentor your member but I took the time to email you today because you have already overcome 1 of your most important hurdles.. Developing leads, the other one is getting out of your own damn way. A lot can happen in this business overnight but you have to be in it to win it. Need more opportunity? Call me. Need a direction? Call me.

Wanna complain? DON'T CALL ME, call Dan… :-)

Look around… Look at the people showing up on the superstar and award lists, they've all been in the internet marketing industry for more than 12 months so give it some time and persist. We are very fortunate to be a part of this group as our first introduction into this industry.

I just spoke to an applicant who has been involved in another Direct Sales company and in a years time she only developed a handful of leads and some of the methods we are exposed to were of great surprise to her… What ever you decide I wish you the best and I enjoyed meeting you but I truly hope one day we look back at this an laugh while sipping umbrella shaded cocktails at an event in some killer location. I'll be there and I want you to be there too, there is much more to this business than just automated CL posting..

P.S. Dan is a great sponsor who I know has spent a lot of his time with you helping you get to where you are. He will be there in the long run for you too.

Why Do People Get Scammed Online?

Why Do People Get Scammed Online?

Because They Ask For It!

Hi Jerry,

We just got off the phone. Like I said on the phone, if it's really THAT possible to make all this money, you can fund me upfront and after I make the money I'll pay you back. I'm sure that would be just a great guarantee that you business works. I'm a terrific sales person and I'm ready to make a bazillion dollars! However a personal situation has left me with very little for extra expenses, so I couldn't even pay for the application.

When we spoke it was such a quick call and you had to go so I didn't get to ask, but if there's a way to prove your way without spending any money, if so I'll do it. But if that can't be done, no use sending me a thing. I can't do it, I've been scammed so many times before and I just won't trust it.

Yours Truly,

Lori XXX,

******

Okay, I file Lori with the people who are always getting scammed, always being taken or falling victim to other people, further more it really sounds like she is looking for easy riches, doesn't it?

I feel like these people always attract what they fear, or more likely what they expect to find and in this case she even seems to be asking for it!

I find it interesting because I have never been scammed, nor do I expect to be. I just don't think about it, and for the life of me I can't figure out what these people are doing to end up this way so often?

Seriously is there some different Internet that I haven't seen that is all scams all the time because I never see them or at least I don’t look at them.

Yes, I've made some bad business decisions and lost money, but I never considered myself scammed because I always personally accept accountability for my actions, decisions, and results.

I celebrate successes and take failures as lessons.

I've never been disappointed in a Sponsor. (I've had a few)

I've never felt ripped off after a book. (I've read a lot)

I've never regretted attending an event. (I've been to many)

Why?

Because I don't expect to be saved by one person, one opportunity, or a book and I understand that each one brings me closer to my goals and I need each one of them.

News Flash! This blog won't save you either, but it should give you at least one idea that if you act upon consistently will bring you closer to your personal goals…

Think about it; you don't learn how to snowboard without taking a few bumps on the head right? When I think about it; everything good in my life it came at a cost.

*** Hi Lori,

Lori, it just doesn't sound like you’re ready to go the mile. I'm sorry our conversation was short but I really thought my purpose was to stop you from moving forward.

This is a real business that requires money to run and there are  fees to get started, much like a franchise agreement but more accessible. If you do not see the value in using our marketing systems or our training and mentoring program, then there is nothing I can or want to say to change your mind. It is a privilege not a burden to work with our team.

My honest opinion is that the problem lies in your current outlook, which is going to handicap you mentally to a point so severe that you will never get the results you are looking for unless you change it.

My advice to you is to start being grateful to those who are willing to share lessons and expect value because after all we get what we expect.

Good Luck,

Jerry

*******

Side Note: If I knew Lori would come in 6 hours every day and take action and work this business like a business I’d certainly fund her, but I don’t and the simple truth is the business has been tested by thousands of entrepreneurs and there is simply no question that it works, the one who needs to prove themselves is Lori… So if I put out the money to properly set her up and she does absolutely nothing then who’s scamming who?

Fire Your Boss – Make A Fortune!

Fire Your Boss – Make A Fortune!

So, go fire your boss, make a fortune from home, spend more time with your kids, and retire in style, have millions invested – your money working for you, live a life of luxury and leave a legacy?

Sounds great right!

Well I have some GOOD news and some BAD news for you…

The BAD news is that it’s not as easy as it sounds to fire your boss and setup a successful online business with a strong passive income.

You need a system, that sorts, educates, and qualifies whom you as a business owner spend your time talking to, and after all we are stepping into this industry to get more free time right?

Creating this system will cost you a fortune in web design, programming and ultimately testing how the market responds. If you were to do this from scratch you’ll need to set aside about 50 grand.

Or do you?

You don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune to make a fortune.

Let me explain in a nutshell the systems most top marketers are using. Keep in mind these systems can be applied to most businesses and are not limited to the direct sales industry.

Traffic + Conversions = Riches

Step #1: Build a prospect list. This is a list of the people who respond to your marketing signaling to you that they have in interest in what you offer. Prospects see capture page and enter contact info. (Anyone joining my team will have immediate access to my 20 plus capture pages; each one is designed to appeal to a different type of audience.)

Step #2: Build a relationship with your list. People buy from those they like, respect, and trust and it’s no different here. The best way to do that is to offer true, honest value. Once the prospect enters their info they become a “lead”. A lead will be put on an auto-responder system and depending on how they came into your system will determine the message sequence they get out. (Again, anyone joining any level of my team will have this entire already in place for them indefinitely)

Step #3: Market to your list. This is when you market products and services that will help the people on your list get what they want. Remember, this isn’t about you making money. It’s about you serving others. At anytime a lead can opt to learn more by requesting your website which does all the selling, telling and explaining for you and allows your prospects to make an informed no pressure decision.

(By the way, NEVER waste your time trying to “convince” people that they need what you have).

This is all 100% automated and truth be told there’s a good chance I’m on the beach right now while you read this because

I’ve already fired my Boss.

I do not cold call anyone, I don’t even schedule follow-up calls unless I have to, and I’d say about 1/2 the people that I’ve Sponsored joined before I had ANY personal contact with them AT ALL, imagine that!

Trick is, I have a call center stocked with full-time professional business coaches answering questions and keeping appointments for me and you can too!

In this system it is actually detrimental to contact your applicants because the very basis of the marketing is that there is no calling, no telling, no selling, no explaining and that is what people are drawn to. I found people do what you do not what you say so if you are contacting them they will assume they have to do the same and it turns them off. I recommend this system to part timers, and newbie’s because they only need to focus on one part of the success equation and that is the traffic.

The good news is you don’t need to spend 50 large to obtain an effective system, I can show you how to get them for as little as zero dollars.

Here’s the thing….

The biggest mistake newbie’s make is that they fail to leverage the power of marketing and advertising. Can you believe that some spend hours a day putting signs on street corners, making lists of family and friends, and dropping business cards in parking lots? If you’re going to fire your Boss and make a fortune you’ll have to think bigger than that, trust me.

On the other hand, successful business owners in this industry (like me), utilize online and offline advertising methods, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, our little army of ads is out there doing all of the prospecting work for us. I don’t bug our friends and family members, I don’t hand out business cards, and I especially don’t waste my time calling low quality leads from lead vendors. My employees are Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

The tools I use ensure that my team and I always have a long line of people literally contacting us on a daily basis about what we do.

Enter into the mentality of abundance.

“What Kind of Person Gets Involved in a Home Based Business?”

“What Kind of Person Gets Involved in a Home Based Business?”

You know I recently went the marketing event we held in Dallas and while I was there I interviewed as many homepreneurs as I could as quickly as I could. I asked one question to all of them, “what kind of person gets involved with a home based business?” I managed to corner people in their seats, walking away, at the bar, in their rooms and coddling babies. No need to worry I did not have to sacrifice any “good times” in the making of this video and it actually turned out to be fun in itself. I must say I was surprised by some of the answers..

Check it out they all seem kinda normal….

Weird right?

Selling Sucks!

Selling Sucks!

I’m helping a friend run a marketing booth at the NRMLA trade show in Los Angeles today and I am a bit disturbed because I haven’t been around working people in while. I really don’t like it, their vocabulary has words like “I work for”, “when I get back to the office”, and “tell me why your service is better than…” things like that. Those may be phrases you hear everyday but they stand out in my brain like the first time I got hit with the wooden spoon. Worst yet the attendee’s expect me to cater to them and sell them on the product! Let me tell you why all of that bothers me more than a poorly tailored suit.

You see, I’ve been an online entrepreneur for the 18 months and I am not accustom to these practices nor do I like them. I’ve grown quite fond of having websites that explain the product or service I might be offering and automating 90% the follow-up process .

In my world as well as many others the game has changed and it should change for you too; if you have something of extreme value that isn’t offered anywhere else then the seller has the power NOT the consumer. This is a paradigm shift that most long-time sales veterans just don’t get. The author of “The 4 Hour Work Week” Tim Ferriss explains this as the way of the “new rich” (NR) and it is a simple concept. Possess something of extreme value and design a qualifying and selling process that does not include require interaction then leverage the Internet to bring it to the masses.

Times Are Changing, Some for the Better Some for the Worse

Times Are Changing, Some for the Better Some for the Worse

Your friend from college just called to vent at you. He is depressed. He can’t pay his house payment for a month. As the story unfolds, you realize that he cant afford his two cars, his credit cards are maxed out, and he still owes on his student loans… at 44 years old.

His children are about to go to college, but he has no money put aside for such an occasion. He tells you he is losing weight because he can’t eat…too much stress. Six months later he would be faced with a choice, lose his home and move in with his parents, or file bankruptcy to avoid losing his home… humiliation being the inevitable result of both options.

This scenario is the reality all over North America and the world. There is a significant lack of financial education and proper money management in our society. The result is that we all tend to do exactly what our parents warned us not to do, yet they never knew specific action steps to tell us how to better the situation.

So, we start running up the credit card debt, and we buy the vehicles to keep up with out appropriate status. We use the equity in our home as an ATM machine and one vacation after the next comes right out of home equity… along with the kid’s doctor and dentist bills, day care, and the gasoline that continues to go up in price.

As a whole, we feel a lack of respect and appreciation for our efforts, and they no longer offer the long-term security on which our grandparents relied. I wish this were depicting an exaggeration, but look around; if it is not happening to you it is happening to your neighbors, family, and friends. It’s not a pretty picture, and no one seems to have another option.

Now, take a deep breath and relax… there is an answer.

It’s called Entrepreneurialism. When used effectively, this “E” word can be the answer to your concerns of time freedom, financial freedom, and many other aspects of your life.

But what is the difference between a successful entrepreneur and the masses that find themselves out of business, and right back where they started? The short answer is, “a proven system”…But let us talk about the longer answer for a moment.

Picture yourself standing on a dock overlooking a crystal clear blue lake…the wind blowing in your hair and the sunshine on your face. Your eyes are closed as you relish the moment. You remember that the mountains are in the distance across the lake, You can hear the birds in the air, and waves lightly floating onto the shore. The cabin you rented is about a hundred yards behind you as you now sit barefoot on the dock with you feet in the water. You realize that your mind is perfectly clear, and your senses are alive and well. You smile as you recall that there is no employer expecting you back to work. You are on no schedule but your own. There is literally enough money in your bank account to allow you to stay right here for the rest of your life…and at some point, you just might do it. You have no credit card debt… in fact you pay cash for just about everything at this point, unless there is a reason to use the banks money. Your life is full of options and you feel at peace.

You make literally hundreds of thousands of dollars per year using a proven marketing system, which you did not have to create. In fact you laugh because you really do very little other than the marketing. You spend a few hours per week paying attention to your marketing, another few hours keeping your head on straight and focusing on your goals. The rest of your time is spent doing anything and everything that you feel is fulfilling. This brings your thoughts back to the lake and the idea that perhaps you would like to own a get away up here in the mountains. Maybe tomorrow you will go look up a realtor and have some money transferred…just in case. You smile again as you remember that while you are dreaming on the end of this dock, your websites are making you money… day in and day out. Your Blackberry beeps at you, letting you know that a sale was just made, which triggered a deposit into your bank account… which in turn put yet another smile on your face. The only question at this point is “how many thousands of dollars was in the deposit?”

This could be your reality… IF you decide it to be..

Money Is Just Dirty Paper

Money Is Just Dirty Paper

I find it interesting that time and money is something everybody wants more of but if you ask how many books the average person read or how much they studied the topic most people fall very, very short.

Have you ever heard of the “be-do-have”?

Simply stated what it means it to have the results you desire you first have to be in a mindset that drives you to do the activities that lead you to having your desired result. All to often people think once they have the million bucks they will do what a millionaire does and then think like one and that is wrong.

You see when you ask most people what they want they say a s!#*ton of money but if they were to really define what they want it’s not the million bucks, that’s just dirty paper but it’s the lifestyle that the dirty paper can provide. The travel, the comfort, the security, and the respect that come with being successful and having loads of dirty paper.

What is your WHY?

Why do you want the success?

It should be as simple as identifying what it is that you want, right? Everyone knows what he or she wants, right?

Not so much…

It’s a bit more challenging than one would think. Ask an adult to write down everything they want on a list with a minimum of 10 items and you will find that for most it turns out to be quite difficult.

Stating that you want a certain amount of money, want to quit working or just want a bigger car than your neighbor can cause people to experience discomfort. After all, it may make them appear greedy or lazy and that’s not generally considered positive. So they try to come up with something that’s socially acceptable and in doing so, make what they want subject to the opinions of others. Not good.

Here’s the interesting part…

Kids on the other hand have no problem here. They’ll come up with 10 items and more in no time, listing things you didn’t even know exist. They don’t worry about what others may think of it, whether it makes them look greedy, lazy or whatever. All they know is that they want it. Fascinating when you think about it.

You see, kids have not yet been brainwashed or conditioned into thinking that they can’t have certain things. They just assume they can have anything they want, right?

And so can you. You just may not realize it yet.

Here’s a very effective exercise for you that will really bring to light exactly what it is that you want in life so you can pin point your WHY.

Chances are you’ve never done this…

Figure out what it is that you DON’T want first and what you do want will become crystal clear. This is a technique called “clarity through contrast” and it basically states that when you observe what it is that you don’t want in life it then it delivers clarity, which makes it clear what you do want.

Your WHY should be a clear vision and you should never begin without it.

Why would you want to be rich? Why would you want to quit working to have your own business? What would you do if you no longer had to go to a job every day? You may decide you want a bigger house than anyone in your family before you ever had.

But what does that do for you? Would you sleep better? Would it make your life better? Would it make you happier? Whatever it is, it’s critical that you know.

Nailing down your WHY is one of the most powerful ways to improve your chances of success with your enterprise. So make sure that you know what your WHY is. Find it and refine it over and over again. Make it so strong that achieving it becomes an absolute must for you and the HOW will absolutely reveal itself to you over time.

Trust me.

Exactly HOW you plan to achieve your success is far less important, especially early on. Too much focus on the HOW early in the process can have a devastating effect. It could paralyze you. I call it “hesitation is devastation.

I know this might be kinda boring “self-development” stuff, but it truly is the foundational of your success.
