Every week I connect with network marketers who's primary source of leads generation, is Internet based systems. Most of them still struggling to achieve what they set out for. It’s hard to hear in an industry full of hype but after all it’s a business, and only two-thirds of new small businesses survive at least two years, according to the Small Business Administration. That survival rate falls to 44 percent at four years, and to 31 percent at seven. So believe-it or not, not everyone is an instant success in Network marketing either.
One of the biggest questions I get asked all the time goes something like this: "I'm trying to get my business off the ground, but I'm on a very limited budget. I need to make
money FAST. What are the best low cost marketing strategies?" And you know what, that is a real good question.
Even if you're not in this position yourself, then someone you recruit is bound to be, so it’s best to know the answer.. and here's mine..
On a limited budget, you will have to approach your business (not hobby) from a slightly different perspective…but it’s very doable. Here’s the first and the worse thing most newbie’s usually do..
Spend every last dollar they have on buying leads, PPC campaigns, postcards, banners, or co-ops. I’m no different, I too threw money at the problem (e.g.: needing leads) hoping to get a return on my investment and that it would spark something… ANYTHING!
But it makes no sense though, and without cents we don’t make dollars either.
You see… spending your last dime on advertising campaigns is the biggest mistake you could make. Why? Because if you spend your $500 on leads, PPC, fliers, business cards, or a postcard campaign, you might get a few prospects, but if you don't sponsor anyone or generate enough sales, you're back to square one. There's no way to LEVERAGE the results. You only as good as your last lead…Once you've called through all of them, its game over! You need more leads! And now you're forced to spend more money to keep this endless cycle going. It's like trying to build a business "from pay-check to pay-check", and very few will ever come out ahead before they're financially forced to call it quits. Ever try filling a leaky bucket?
So what should you do?
Focus on the fundamental marketing strategies that continue to produce results. Stop surfing the net looking for some magic strategy, silver bullet or blasting software. Spending more money will just get you more of the same. What you want to do is invest your funds into "high leverage" skills and simple activities, which you can use over and over again too quickly and easily, produce more leads any time you want… for FREE. Things like Article Marketing, SEO strategies, Social Media, or Blogging.
In the past, you had to be a certified search engine expert, or a wizard at pay-per-click with deep pockets, in order to get enough traffic, but not anymore.
Don’t worry if you're feeling at all overwhelmed, take a breath…relax…and just take this a step at a time. You know, feeling overwhelmed and confused is one of the major obstacles that most online marketers face at some point in the process. I just want you to know…it’s OKAY… It is to be expected. Realize that you are learning and attempting to master brand new skills. You are growing and developing yourself as a marketer. This is a process… and you must be willing to go through the discomfort and face the challenges of learning with perseverance and determination. You can only fail if you give up. Honestly. Everyone, including you have the ability to prosper in times like these and since you are proactively seeking solutions, you deserve a pat on the back.
