It’s True!

Google is on the hunt and if you’re running an adwords campaign with one of the new “Google No No’s” right now you might be the next one on their hit list.

Here’s what’s going down..

April 29, 2009 Texas Attorney General filed charges against the owners of Google Money Tree.

For those of you who haven’t heard of “Google Money Tree” it was just another fly-by night get rich company who promised the moon for less than 4 bucks and then enrolled the poor unknowing sucker into a $72 monthly continuity program that was non-refundable. They also used false endorsements from famous Bloggers and even the Google Search Engine!

In an effort to crack down on scammers trying to take advantage of the economic downturn the FTC also brought about eight new cases on July 7, 2009 against companies who allegedly misrepresented either their product or results. One of those companies again happened to be “Google Money Tree.”

So why is the real Google out murdering honest marketing campaigns?

Well as it turns some of my sources revealed Google “The Google” is also involved in a lawsuit where it is be held liable for some of the damages the “Money Tree” was responsible for.  Talk about guilty by association!

Even if charges against “The Google” are ridiculous they are looking at this as the canary in the mineshaft, and doling out some vicious slaps to their PayPerClick customers!

Now I’m certainly not claiming to know exactly what Google wants, but here are some things myself and some of my colleges have been experiencing:

If you look like a traditional business opportunity Google wants you gone.

Google will also “slap” your campaign if your ad group or keywords contains the word “Google” in them.

If you have income claims in your ads or even on your landing pages you will be “slapped,” oh and guess what? Google can read and spider your videos for content too…  (Yeah crazy right.. what people will figure out for $ is insane… BTW I’m talkin bout Google… they need that info so the can sell ad space and eventually pay the video creators which will just throw wood on an already raging fire. Yeah even crazier I know, there’s some wild s@%t comin down the pipe)

Anywhoo back to the new PPC Slaps..

Google has been known to slap duplicate pages in the past, but there has seems to be cracking down somethin FIERCE. Some of us are even considering that Google is using Analytics codes to examine the content on the second page too. Why wouldn’t they? So that means affiliate marketers are going to have to rethink some, if not ALL of their campaigns as well….

Google seems to want to eliminate all liabilities even if the guy really did make $91,512.00 last month.

All-in all, it’s more of the same, it all comes down to giving YOU the searcher what you want and right now Google doesn’t think you want to see that…. I beg to differ, if people didn’t want to see it the market would not exist but it does.

My Advice:

To those that got scammed by Google Money Tree; Brush the $72 bucks off as a cheap lesson and honestly, what kind of dream did you think you were going to buy for under $100!?!

Now I’ll talk to the Pros; Whats does that really rich guy say again? Oh yeah,” Wide diversification is only required when investors do not understand what they are doing.”   -Warren Buffett.

Don’t diversify because that’s what all the weak are doing, but the soldiers know to stay the course. They know that they WILL figure this out, and please the Google Gods, and there will be sunny days again. In fact, they will be brighter then ever before, so embrace these new restrictions. In the end it will shake off all the “dead weight” we'’ll be paying a lot less per click.

If you want to live through the “slap” then build out your own original webpages either the traditional way or with a stand alone blog and claim yourself as an island of original content. If you don’t you might fly under the radar for a while but when they find you and slap you don’t be testin the Google because they might just make an example out of ya.

After all the end user wants original content and Google want to make the end user happy and YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE GOOGLE HAPPY! GRRRR!
